More Large Scale Data Breaches

There were two new data breaches announced this week.  These two breaches quickly became the largest of 2018 to date.  The latest firms are Saks and Under Armour.  How does this effect your business?

These breaches, and all data breaches, have one thing in common.  They are all bound to happen to every company, it is just a matter of when.  No company is immune from attacks and very few are immune from data being breached.  Every company is a target.  If cyber criminals are trying to steal data from MyFitnessPal they will try anything.

I don't know about you, but when I create accounts on websites and apps I use a special email address that isn't connected to my daily life.  I look at this like a dumping ground.  This way, when it gets picked up in a data breach, I don't even care.  Attackers know this, yet they still break into MFP.  If you re not familiar with that app, it is mainly used for free to track calories.  Great app for diets, but I would never trust them with my real email addresses.  I am sure the breach was full of Gmail and Yahoo emails.

Your business will be attacked and a data breach is more likely to happen than not.  The question remains, when are you sign to prepare for it? Are you more secure than Saks?
