WatchGuard Firmware Split

With the recent release of the 12.2 firmware, WatchGuard has implemented a change in how devices will receive upgrades.  With this release, WatchGuard has split their firmware offering based on the model of the firewall.  This is due in large part to the performance requirements of newer feature sets.


Patch Updates Only

Moving forward, the following models will only receive patch updates.  These devices will not be able to upgrade to new firmware that includes new feature sets.  As of September 2018, these devices can currently go as high as firmware version 12.1.3 Update 1.

  • XTM 26 (including wireless model)

  • XTM 33 (including wireless model)

  • XTM 330

  • XTM 5 Series (515, 525, 535, 545)

  • XTM 8 Series (810, 820, 830)

New Feature Updates

Newer Firebox models will be able to receive new firmware versions, which will include new feature sets.  As of September 2018, these devices can currently go as high as firmware version 12.2.1.
